As a tie-in to Leroy MItchell's retirement as Director of the CHANCE program, we have initiated a scholarship fund in his name. We hope to endow this scholarship, so any contributions, big or small, will be welcome.
Once the fund reaches $25,000, we will be able to provide two $500 scholarships each year to CHANCE upperclass students in perpetuity. A committee from within CHANCE will determine who receives these scholarships. If we are unable to reach the $25,000, the funds in the account will be dispersed each year until they have been completely depleted. So, obviously, we would very much prefer to reach our goal of $25,000 to endow the scholarship forever.
If you are interested in contributing, we will be happy to receive any amount. Funds for the "Mitchell Endowment" can be allocated in a number of ways:
1. You can pay by check or pay by credit card, by printing out this form in MS Word, or this form in .pdf , completing it and mail it to:

Make checks payable to the NIU Foundation. And be sure to include "The Leroy Mitchell Endowment Fund " in the "memo line" on your check as well as your own name as contributor.
2. You can send multiple checks as installments on your donation. You can set this up by contacting the NIU Foundation at 1-877-GIV2NIU or , 1-815-753-1386 and mention that this is for "The Leroy Mitchell Endowment".
3. Or, in the same way, you can set up a payment plan that you can attach to a credit card on a monthly basis for up to 3 years.
4. If you are an NIU employee, you can set up a payroll deduction plan using this form from Human Resources and return it DIRECTLY to the NIU Foundation. Under "Deduction Name", it should read "NIU Foundation, Leroy Mitchell Endowment Fund." Before you send it to the Foundation, I highly recommend that you contact the Foundation at (815) 753-0782 to correctly complete the form the way you want the funds to be deducted.
In addition, if you know of anyone else who might be willing to help us sponsor the scholarship, please pass this along, or have them contact the NIU Foundation and mention the Leroy Mitchell Endowment Scholarship Fund. .
